MORE works with Nathan Burrell, Richmond Parks and Recreation’s number one asset, to build and maintain some of the finest mountain biking and foot trails a city could hope for. There’s a great article on the trails and the people that build them here.
When we leave Richmond this summer we will truly miss the Richmond trails and the people that build them.
Oh and here’s a video of us in action.
Some minor updates completed to the blog. More posts coming tonight.
There is a part of me that finds the news about terrorist groups in Iraq seeking mentally ill patients to serve as suicide bombers very disturbing. But, I take some comfort in the fact that to me this signifies “sane” people are starting to question the authority that tells them, “go blow yourself up in the name of Allah.” Could this be another sign that things aren’t going so well for the insurgents?
You pathetic cowards, using the helpless to do your dirty work. And you say America fights without honor?
Some photos from the last day of football this year. If Ashley lands residency here in Richmond then I will be back out next year. Otherwise I will have to find a new crew in the new location.
On his decision to remain neutral in the 1960 Presidential campaign. . .
I feel that someone must remain in the position of nonalignment, so that we can look objectively at both parties and be the conscience of both — not the servant or master of either.
- Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
I am watching the Presidential wannabes on both sides and I am getting the sinking feeling that we are going to have to settle for the same old crap again - where we have to choose between between donkey poop or elephant poop.
I cannot give my endorsement to any of them at his point.
Then again I think our entire government structure needs to change - start by abolishing the Senate.
On this day of remembrance I cannot help but recall my visit to Pearl Harbor last year. I may have discussed this before. If so please pardon the memory lapse.
As many of you know I served in the United States Navy for just under 8 years. I met some really great people while I was in and I went to Pearl Harbor hoping to feel a connection with those that were there that fateful day in 1941. I saw some exhibits that intrigued me, and read many stories of heroism, but something didn’t seem right. I kept comparing Pearl Harbor to the Peace Memorial Park in Okinawa, Japan and I couldn’t help but feel that Pearl Harbor does not do the best job of honoring those lives that were lost or forever changed that day. It has become an overtly commercial enterprise and that saddens me.
So I won’t return and would not tell anyone visiting Hawaii that it is a must visit. I find what has been done there to be quite disrespectful.
To those that were there that day, whether you are here on Earth with us or not, I thank you for your service.
Gwen, a new friend in upstate New York, tipped me to this amazing little story. The Cat and The Crow:
Ashley is interviewing for Residency in Charlottesville, Virgina at UVA today. I will go on record as saying that Charlottesville is a place where I wouldn’t mind living for a while.
