    Son, you’re over your ole dad’s head! I just got here on your site for my latest visit, and continue to be impressed by your intellectual growth! And I believe you told me you didn’t “get” “The Hound of Heaven?!” After I read (and failed to fathom) your poem by Dylan Thomas, I find it hard to understand that you’d find Thompson’s poem “hard to understand!” I love it that you like good books and good poetry and good music (I knew someday you’d come to your senses!). On the subject of poetry, in college I had an old English prof tell the class he could tell their level of intellectual development if they told him their favorite poem. When asked, I replied “Casey at the Bat.” I’d proudly memorize it, plus “Casey’s Revenge,” and Casey on the twentieth anniversary of his famous k (Thass baseball talk for “strike out.”).

    Fesser West told me I had reached sixth grade. Not too bad for my second or third year in college! Keep reading, writing, riding, and stay close to Ashley and write old Dad as often as you have the time. Best to Rod & Linda as well! As always, with growing love and pride, dad
